General Manager's Update

June is here and we are rocking and rolling! The golf course has been busy the past two months with the exceptional weather that we have had. The grounds maintenance team has done a phenomenal job getting the golf course in shape for some big events we hosted in May. They will continue to improve playing conditions for all players as the summer goes on and I'm confident is in is good of shape now as it has been in a while. We have lot's of new faces in the building this year and our team has been exceptional. Stop by and visit us sometime soon. 

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there! I got to celebrate my first Father's Day last year and can confidently say there is nothing better than being a dad (despite the lack of time for golf that comes with it).

Director of Player & Business Development Update

I cannot believe that it is already June! We are going to do some of the fun things we are going to do this summer!

PGA Junior League  

We officially kicked off PGA Junior League last week! We have over 100 kids signed up this year to learn the game of golf and compete! Our PGA Jr League Program runs as an in-house program where each week the kids get matched up with each other to play a 2-person scramble. If you see them out there, be patient with them as most of them are just learning how to play!

Ladies Clinics 

Our traditional lady's night has been modified to be a bit more personal this year. Instead of doing everyone in one night in two sessions. I am offering three different time slots for these clinics. Each session is going to be limited to 6 ladies only.  They will be 4-weeks long covering putting, chipping, full swing, and on course. The cost is $25 per session (on course day includes 9-hole greens fee)

Session 1- Starting Wednesday July 9 at 12:30PM 

Session 2- Starting Thursday July 10thth at 9:00AM

Session 3 – Starting Thursday July 10th at 3:00PM

Tournaments 

The tournament schedule is filling up, but that does not mean that we do not have any space left! If you are trying to throw a last-minute golf tournament or event. Please reach out to me and let’s see if we can make it happen!

Lessons

The lesson tee is filling up fast lately! If you are a beginner or an advanced player, let's take your game to the next level! I am currently offering 1 and 3 lesson packages. Do you want to take lessons with a group! Let’s get those scheduled; I am offering group lesson pricing. If you are interested in golf lessons, or have any questions, feel free to reach out!

Tip 

Make more putts by making more putts. The players that make a lot of putts, putt with a lot of confidence. When you are practicing or are warming up, only putt to a hole from 3-8ft away. The more putts we see drop in the cup, the more confidence we get. If you need to practice longer or lag putting, putt to the fringe, your golf towel or to a zone. Our goal with lag putting is to make the next putt as easy as possible (of course we are going to have the occasional make). Practice closer, see more putts drop, build confidence!

Superintendent's Update

Summer is just around the corner. We are in full gear. We have been at it since April. This weather is keeping us very busy with maintenance.

We are ready for sod to go down on #12 tee. This should be done within the first week. Most of the fences have been fixed and we will continue to fix more as soon as we get more supplies. Most of the bigger projects will be done for the season. We will do some smaller ones when we are caught up with the daily stuff.

The daily maintenance is more routine now. Rough mowers are out every day we don’t have a tournament or event. We continue to mow greens at least 5 days a week and roll about the same. We spray greens once or twice a week now. We have been able to have one guy out spraying weeds almost every day. We will have 2 topdressing days this month, and I hope to add a verticut with those.

We have a few greens bunkers left to add sand to, and this should be done soon. Our preventative Billbug application will also be done as soon as we can. The suckers are getting big around some of the ponds, this will be done also.

It is a busy month for the course. We have many events and tourneys to prepare for. Let’s all have a great beginning to Summer.

Food & Beverage Manager's Update

Hello everybody!

Orchards Grill’s summer hours of operation starting in June are 11am-7pm Sunday thru Wednesday and 11am-9pm Thursday thru Saturday. Google Orchards Grill for the most current hours of operation.

We also offer hot dogs, polish dogs, sandwiches (ham, turkey or tuna), and a snack bar for quicker on the go options for on the golf course. Breakfast sandwiches and burritos are also available in the morning. Out on the course, the new golf carts have touch screens capable of ordering straight to Orchards Grill. Just place your order in the golf cart, and we will have it ready by the time you get to the clubhouse.

And here is a list of our current selection of draft beers:
